Native Shrub Inventory

General Information

After speaking with our customers it became clear that native, local provenance shrubs were difficult to find and expensive.  Since it seemed like a natural counterpart to our native trees we began planning their production.  Throughout the fall and even in the winter we collected shrub seeds and researched germination requirements.  The result is that we have collected seeds from over two dozen species of native shrubs.  We have refrigerators and shelves full of seeds waiting for Spring.

  • Scroll down for species list and availability.  Shrubs are $3.25 in any combination.
  • You are welcome to call us at 740-815-3230, or fax us at 740-943-5068 or email us below to ask questions or place an order
  • Please note that some species have multiple seed sources.  Please indicate if this is important in your plantings.  We will try to match you with the most "local" seed source.  We've done our best to include collection data.  The only seed collection data known from some material is the state in which it was collected.
  • Currently, we are experimenting with most of the species listed below.  Some have unusual dormancy requirements which makes them somewhat difficult to germinate.  We hesitate to publish the quantity available until we actually have them germinated and growing.  As soon as we know quantities we will publish them below.
  • If you need large numbers ( >100 ) of a particular species please email or call us at your earliest convenience with that information.  That way we can better plan to meet your needs.
  • Typically seedlings are grown in 18 cell trays (cell size approximately  3"X3"X 4") and/or band pots (approximately 4"X4"X6") and for pricing we consider these similar products.  All are root pruned.
